Someone from the Montgomery Family, please email me at paula@2gypsygirls.com to claim your prize!  You have 24 hours or it goes back in the pot!

Today I have some simple packaging ideas found on the web and under my tree.
I like simple.  Hope you do too.

  from Design Sponge
 from Whimsy
  from Songbird
from Allorah Handmade via Pinterest
 from Martha Stewart
made from Trader Joe's bags
the only person I bought something from at the Renegade Craft Fair this past weekend!
and from my house
I have to mail a lot of packages so I am always looking for flat packaging that will not get damaged in the mail.
Plain brown mailing paper
(you can buy it at Michael's over by the shipping supplies and cellophane)
and a recycled Paper Source Letterpress Calender.
Of course once I mail this package to my sister I will have no idea what day it is till I put out the Jan calendar.
Add some baker's twine and my favorite label shape and you are done.
then there's the calendar that we have been giving out.  I just printed December on kraft paper (also from Michael's), cut it out, rounded the corners, added a little Distress ink.  I decided on wide satin ribbon and cut two slits in the calendar to fit.  Add the label sticker and a little star I punched from glitter paper and you're done. simple.
You can email us for the 2012 calendar, just click on the email icon in the left sidebar.
Here I made a simple flashcard...all who bought the village kit got one of these inside their kit as part of the packaging, so now here's a use for it!
Super easy to make...if you can make a text box in your word processing program, you can make this.

I used the free font Modern No. 20 - download it here .
The word Merry is 125pt and the date (No 1225) in the corner is 12pt.  Print it on some creme cardstock and cut it out, round the corners and you are done.
Oh, and don't forget the little red label ready to write in the name of the recipient, I need one of those on just about everything.

If you would like to enter to win today's giveaway
to win a stash of 7gypsies products, please leave a comment.

Today's question: Do you have a favorite Christmas Song?
(anyone that picks Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano will be disqualified by me because when I hear that song I can't get it out of my head for a month and therefore should it not be played at any time of the year)
Day 3 Giveaway is open till 12 midnight pacific time.
Winner will be posted tomorrow morning and you will have 24 hours to claim your prize.
See you tomorrow!
cheers!
paula

  10. Ha, I already bought my big roll of kraft paper from an Etsy site about a month ago so I am on Trend! Love the ideas you are showing - especially yours- but I have some secret amazing ideas of my own and they involve Tinsel not glitter! Shocked? I knew you would be.

My favorite song? Justin Bieber's MIstletoe . Ha, kidding though that song too is catchy and after hearing it, I spend the rest of the day singing "Shorty with you, shorty with you…" (Can a song EVER become a classic when it contains the words "Shorty with you….Shorty with you..?)

My real favorite song is "The First Noel" but I really love them all.

  132. There are so many! I f I had to choose, I could narrow it down between Hark! The Hearld Angels Sing and O' Come All Ye Faithful. Seeing as my family sang these in 4 part harmony as I grew up, they are even more lovely!

  133. The wrapping ideas are very inspirational! Love the brown ones with any kind of label and twine. They look great for sending via post (flat).
My fav christmas songs are the spanish ones I used to sing when I was child with my family on Christmas Eve: "Los peces en el Rio", "25 de desembre", etc... getting used to the english ones now though ;-D

  134. Oh to pick just one, I guess it would have to be O come all ye faithful. I can't wait until Dec 1st comes ever year that is when the radio stations start playing all the Christmas music it really get you into the Christmas Spirit.

  142. My favorite Christmas song has always been Silent Night. I'm very partial to O Holy Night this year as it was my mom's favorite and it makes me think of her.

  143. Great Wrappings! I've used plain brown wrapping paper now and then, and jazzed it up with wired ribbon I bought on sale the previous year on sale after Christmas on the cheap. But you've got some great ideas here...

My favorite song for Christmas is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". There is something so spritely about that tune that I just feel wonderful singing it - I can't carry a tune, so it's all in my head - no one else feels happy hearing me singing, but, Hey! It's Christmas!! Gotta LOVE it!!

  148. Hello,

My favorite "Christmas" and winter CD is " if on a winter's night" from Sting !!!

No farinaceous christmas songs for me, but the beautiful voice of Sting with several genuine musicians and "vintage" folksongs...

just google it on itunes and listen to some of them.
The sfere that it brings to you is that of a chamber with a warm fire, surrounded by friends...

Another favorite CD this period is the music from the movie " les choristes"...

If you read this message and you didn't know this music and found time to listen to it... let me know what you think of it :)

    greetings from belgium
    Inge

  149. Ok, my favorite two christmas songs are Grandma got run over by a reindeer and Oh Holy Night. The wrapping are beautiful, especially the brown paper and the newspaper. When I was younger we used to use the funny pages to wrap gifts, and paper bags to wrap up school books. I guess we are getting back to being frugal. I LOVE IT.

  150. "Light a Candle" by Avalon has become my song this season. Bringing light to the dark of someone else's life is the essence of Christmas, and this song makes that so clear.
I first heard this song when two teen sisters sang it at church' now they've moved a far away, yet this song brings them close to us again.

  151. 'DECK THE HALLS with boughs of holly....' because EVERYONE can join in 'FA LA LA LA LAAAA LA LA LA LAAAA!' even if they've never heard it before!

And also because it joins pagans like me, with Christians and people of all faiths to come together and celebrate the blessings of the season together, whatever their spiritual beliefs.

    :)

LOVE brown paper packages tied up in string... just like the song says, this is one of my favourite things. :)

  152. I have 2 favorites, Carol of the Bells and Silent Night. Manheim Steamroller does a version of Silent Night that transports me to riding in a horse drawn sleigh, traveling down a trail at night through a beautiful snow covered forest. So peaceful and calming!

My favorite song for Christmas is Mistletoe and Wine sung by Cliff Richard.

I have several, Don't save it all for Christmas Day - Clay Aiken, I'll be Home for Christmas - Rascal Flats, Jesus - Mariah Carey, Mary did you Know - Kathy Mattea, I could go on and on but I think I better stop now. I will be making some home made wrapping paper by just stamping craft paper, it is fun and simple and inexpensive.

Tonight: packing ideas... :) I'm glad I found your blog!! About songs and the holidays... there are so many out there, but the one that always brings me back to my childhood is the old traditional Jingle Bells... I can't help it. I listen to the first lines and I have to sing along! Happy Holidays!! :)

  174. Wonderful packages. Swung over here from T!m's blog! My favourite song would probably have to be Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I honestly pretty much love all Christmas songs, but it's the one I know all the words to and can sing any time of the year if you asked. Second favourite? Where are you Christmas? The version sung by Cindy Lou Who in the Grinch is best with Faith Hill's version being a close second!

  175. Love the great wrapping ideas! My favorite Christmas song is as hard as my favorite dessert would be but if I had to pick 1 from all the different types of music it is probably
Christmastime is here by the Vince Guardi trio off the Charlie brown Christmas album and show. It brings memories and goosebumps from childhood through when we sold Christmas trees and played Christmas music 12 hours a day til now, when I could still hear it 5 times a day. I remember shopping with my oldest brother when I was in college and we went out shopping really early on a Saturday morning and we were blasting it in the car and singing along! That day is one of my favorite Christmas memories and it will forever be my favorite Christmas song.

  179. sorry forgot to add the song...
The song that I love is by John Lennon that came out in 1970's called So This is Christmas.

    So this is Christmas
    And what have you done
    Another year over
And a new one just begun
    Ans so this is Christmas
    I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one

  187. My favorite Christmas Carol is "Silent Night," because we have a tradition of not placing Baby Jesus in the Nativity until after Midnight Mass, and when we do so we sing "Silent Night," followed by "Happy Birthday." It still makes me cry, every year, to welcome the Christ Child into my heart, home, and the world this way!

    ReplyDelete
  188. I love the movie, The Grinch and the song by Faith Hill called Where are you Christmas. It always brings a tear to my eye.

  189. Straight No Chaser's "Twelve Days of Christmas"--a classic that they've made not so classic. Love the story behind it!

  190. I am loving all the songs on the A Very She & Him Christmas album this year especially like their rendition of Baby, It's Cold Outside. Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson is hauntingly good. Pandora radio has Christmas stations so I have been listening a lot to the Rat Pack belting out classic songs -- very retro! Last night's Glee had some good Christmas songs -- have to get to iTunes to check those out again.I really enjoy Christmas music between Thanksgiving and Christmas and then I need a break -- probably because Macy's (and others) start playing it right after Halloween.
    Merry Christmas All!

I would say that "The Christmas Song" by Russ Taff, "I wish it could be Christmas everyday" by All Star United, and "Only Love" by Prism are in my top 10... but I LOVE Christmas music, so just about all of it is great to me.
