It's all about the pumpkins...

I took a day off.
A whole day.
Lately those have been far and few between, with lots of deadlines and other things happening...Quilt Market in Houston at the end of the month, CHA only 3 months away (weren't we just there?), prepping kits for Waxahatchie, TX on the 18th and 19th.
It was a beautiful day to be out in the warm fall weather at the Three Speckled Hens Show in Paso Robles, CA with my friend Nancy, and my niece Courtney.  We left at 6:30am for the hour drive north on the 101.  Arriving in time to get pretty darn close to the front of the line.
I like to be at the front of the line!
We also paid an extra $5 for the early-bird entry, to shop without the crowds, get first pick of the goods and stay out of the afternoon heat... always a good choice!
We were very excited because the Old Willow Farm was at the show selling her fall pumpkins - she hand carves words into the pumpkin while they are growing in the field.  You can see more of her work here.
Lots of great vendors to choose from at the show.

This was one of the new vendors at the show.  A booth full of old carnival games.

Take a personality test?
Or there was this guy that was waving a stop sign!
This spinning game was moving so fast - but it was mesmerizing!
More beautiful booths set up with fall themes.
love the dress form and jewelry

We did the two buildings and then moved to the outside vendors.
look at this French chandelier - wow!
I have never seen a hot air balloon basket at an antique show.  This booth had two!
Time to pick out our pumpkins! Would you believe, between the 3 of us, we bought at least 12 pumpkins in varying sizes to display and give away?  Such a fun fall tradition for us!  The hardest part is carrying them to the car!
Trip to the car #1 - one striped suitcase to be used at Quilt market at the end of the month.  One darling cut out dog for my good friend, old paintbrushes for me...and the first 2 boxes of pumpkins.

If only I needed a ladder now!  plenty of them here.
This was a great cabinet - I love how many locks are on it!  Wonder what they kept in there that would require so many??
Some crates for Tim?
We couldn't leave without one more stop to see our friend in the basket!
Before we left town we stopped in downtown Paso for lunch at Odyssey World Cafe - Yummy!

Then we stopped in at some of our favorite shops around the square - Firefly and Soul Tree (a fabulous shoe store).

And one final stop at Birch, my favorite fabric shop just down the street from the cafe (and all within walking distance).
What a great day off!
carry on, paula
