7gypsies latest and greatest - "Global" Collection

Maps seem to be popping up everywhere, including our new papers!  The second collection from 7gypsies has everything to do with maps of all sizes.  Large scale on the front and small scale on the back.  The colors are warm and muted just perfect for so many of the projects we love.

I was asked to come up with a project using two of the New papers.  I had my husband cut a piece of wood the same size as the paper.  Then I spray mounted the paper to the wood base.
We went to Home Depot and bought two pieces of nicely finished wood we found in the moulding section.  It was already cut to the right height so he just had to cut the right length.
I liked the raw look of the wood so I chose not to paint it.  Once the wood was cut to size my husband used the nail gun to attach it to the base that was covered with the map.  Super easy.  I filled the nail holes with wood putty and sanded down the excess once the putty was dry and wallah! a shadow box was born.
I eventually added the 20 (cut from a book page) beside the 10 to represent the year.

I added the tack nails and red wool thread (found in a quilting shop) to follow the trip route.  The words were stamped with a new alphabet clear stamp (we will show later in the week).  LOVE this stamp set.  It is a MUST have.
For the second shadow box we built one exactly the same as the first but used a map of Australia.
I used some 7gypsies bottles, amber and clear to gather trip memorabilia.  The Salve label is a new colored rubbing (fabulous), the 16 is from the new clear stamp, the stamp is a piece of Lille paper tape.  I also added tickets that have been stamped with yet another new clear stamp.

The new tag set in Global
Paper Tape....love, love, love!

Well that's it for today.  We'll be back tomorrow with more!

cheers!
paula

  7. I love your projects - very cool! The map paper is a must have and the paper tape - again, I think this is my favorite product of this collection. I guess I must have a "thing" for letters and numbers. I seem to be drawn to them. I simply can't wait to get my hands on this Gypsie goodness!
