One more...

This is a Cabinet Card that has been made into a Christmas Card.  There is a #8 tag inside that can be pulled up using the bow at the top.

The silhouette is the new Sizzix Alterations Carolers die.  Once of my favorites from the new release.  The background has been inked using the new Layering Stencils - Stars.  Now add on my beloved red Vial Labels and the new Christmas Remnant Rubs and Mirrored Stars.  Love it.

Merry Christmas card

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about the Burlap Panel.  That was really a fun project to create and a great way to use up leftover embellishments!
Up today, a Christmas card -
I used a Collage Glue stick to cover a piece of Grungeboard with Merriment paper, then ran it through the Vagabond machine using the Vintage Cabinet Card die.  I needed the shape to be a bit smaller to fit on the card front so I cut off about 1/4" off each side.  If I had planned better, I would have just made the card wider but that part was already done so I just went with it.

I used the Sizzix sized ovals to cut the Mirrored product for the center.  If you missed the technique I used to age the Mirrored product, you can check it out here.  Once the oval was complete, I peeled off the backing and adhered it to the foundation.

Next step, coloring the new Industrious Borders with Alcohol Ink - gold.

The borders are not flexible, so once colored, I clipped (only part of the way) between each point to make is flexible enough to go around the Sized Oval.  Once that was complete, I added the Remnant Rub - Merry Christmas to the center.

I should mention the bow and Baubles before I finish up.  The bow is made from the new Linen trimmings.  It comes narrow in the package but can be stretched to create a bigger bow.  See the difference in the band wrapped around the cabinet card and the bow itself?  Two different sizes.  It can also be stained whatever color you wish.

The holly is from the Sizzix decorative strip - Festive Greenery.  I cut the leaves and scored the veins with the end of my Tonic scissors.  The "berries" are a couple of sizes of pearl Baubles that have been colored with 3 different colors of Alcohol ink - butterscotch, red pepper, and mushroom.  Once dry, I threaded the three Baubles onto a string to hold them tight, then glued them to the card with a bit of Glossy Accents.

On the inside, I used more Merriment paper stash (kids in the snow), pieces from the festive greenery die, a vial label and more Remnant Rubs.

Christmas Burlap Panel

After a nice vacation last week, I'm back at it this week...sharing some of the projects made for CHA.   Up today, a 6 x 8" Burlap panel.
I painted the burlap panel with Picket Fence Distress paint and set it aside to dry.  Once the Burlap was dry, I drilled 2 holes through the Burlap/Masonite board for the screws in the Ruler Binding.  I only used one of the ruler pieces that comes in the package (more on how I secured the screws at the end).
I cut a piece of chipboard to use as a foundation.  I also cut many small sizes of chipboard that were glued to the foundation piece.  In other words, there are two layers of Chipboard here.  One is solid and the others are glued on top, once I had the pattern.  It really is like creating one of those sliding puzzles.  I just kept moving the pieces and embellishments around until I saw what I wanted the final piece to be.  I think one thing to keep in mind is that you can cross over the lines with larger embellishments like the Ornate plate.  It really touches 4 different squares.  That Ornate Plate also helped the Enameled Tag in the top right corner (wish) not look lost on the larger rectangle piece.  It takes in just enough of the corner to make it work.
Once I had an idea of what I wanted, I added paper to the chipboard pieces, then sanded and inked the edges of each piece before gluing to the foundation.

I used the paper from the back of the Merriment Paper Stash (2 x 2" squares + ATC sized) to cover the small pieces of chipboard.  The scale of these papers were perfect.
The Ornate Plate was painted with Distress Paint and dried with the Heatit tool (don't forget the brads).
The calendar is really a little door.  The Game Spinner turns so the door can open up.

To make the chipboard piece a door, I just cut the polka dot paper longer and glued it to the foundation piece.  Once dry, I added the picture of Santa over the top to cover it up.   Easy to do... just takes a little thought.

 

The rectangle with all the Remnant Words is a cut piece of Mirrored.  Cut the piece, peel off the protective plastic coating then lay Remnant Rubs over the top and rub them on in one big chunk.  Just remember to take off the plastic coating first...I mention that just because I might have forgotten that step (once or twice).

Once my foundation was complete, I slipped it under the Ruler Binding (I did add glue to the back).  I adjusted the screws so the ruler was tight against the foundation piece...pulling them from the underside. Then added Glossy Accents all around the base of each screw.  I am sure any thick glue would work for this step.  Now just let it alone to dry completely.
