Last Minute Cards.....

Well, it's the Friday before Mother's Day.  Have you gotten your not only thoughtful but also wonderfully creative card ready for mom yet?  If not, I was thinking something simple, using the items you might have on hand would be just the thing needed.  Here's a simple card idea you can whip up really quick.

All you need is:

Envelopes - I have found that the smart way to create a card is to start with the envelope.  That way you can make your card to match that size, shape and color.  I buy bulk packs from Michaels or Hobby Lobby with a coupon so I have them on hand when needed.

Rubber or Clear Stamps - It doesn't need to be a specific stamp, just an accent.  I used 7gypsies Venice.

Dictionary - Pull out your cut up dictionaries and find appropriate words like:  Thank, gratitude, wonderful, amazing, appreciate, etc.  Anything that describes the favorite moms in your life.

Paper Tape - I used a variety of 7gypsies paper tapes.

Paper Bits - I love these opportunities to use up your paper scraps.
Ribbon and Twine - Again use up those tiny pieces.

Here are three versions of the card -

To start:
Cut and fold cardstock to match your envelope size (mine was a basic 4 1/2" x 6").  Start with stamping onto the front of your card.  Then layer with your dictionary definition, paper, paper tape, etc.

Finish with some stitching to add some texture and dimension.  Stitch right over the twine then tie in a bow or knot.

I like to twist the ribbon and stitch over it so it's not laying flat.

Be sure and add coordinating bits and stitching to the envelope flap.

Ink the edges and write something heartfelt inside.  The recipient will think you are wonderful.

Happy Mother's Day!
