The Crafty Scrapper - 12 tags of Christmas

I'm excited today to be participating in a 12 tags series that my friends at The Craft Scrapper have been putting on.  Each day a new tag is posted on their blog - today is my day!
Follow along and I'll show you how I did it:
Create a collage background with Christmas ephemera following the shape of a #8 tag.
Use Multi Medium to adhere the ephemera to the tag.
Once ephemera is secure - trim away excess paper.
Add a thin layer of Multi Medium over the tag to seal the paper (don't skip this step).

Once the Multi Medium is dry, use the brush tip of the Black Soot Distress Marker to add a drop shadow around each piece of ephemera....immediately smudge with your finger to create the shadow.

Set aside tag.
Cut a globe with Kraft-Core metallic - gold

Cut the globe to fit the tag and add foam squares to the back.

Cut a thin strip of Kraft-Core for a banner.

Thread the banner into the globe.

Fold the cardstock to create a banner.

Add a message using Small Talk stickers.

Add the globe to the tag.
Next up is some holly I cut using the Holiday Greens Thinlit.  I sanded and inked the holly, then molded each piece for dimension.

Before adding the holly to the tag I added a bit of Platinum Stickles to create a bit of shine.

Start adding the holly using Glossy Accents.
I wanted to add some berries so I gathered some random faux pearls from the craft store and colored them with Alcohol Ink.
I started with Butterscotch.

Then added Red Pepper.
I dumped the pearls onto a paper plate to let them dry.
Once they were dry, I pounced each of the pearls with Mushroom to age the bright colors.

An easy way to add the pearls to the card is so drip a bit of Glossy Accents onto the tag, then pick up the pearl with a straight pin and slide it into place on the tag.

Add a large Mirrored Star (it has a bit of Mushroom Alcohol Ink to make it vintage).

And there you go, one Christmas tag!  This same idea would make a beautiful Christmas card using the entire globe shape.
I like the dimension of this tag.  It looks much harder to make than it was.

Thanks Carolyn for asking me to be part of the 12 tag series!  It was fun making a Christmas tag that I can use next week.  It will look fabulous on a package under my tree.

now carry on,
paula

  21. Hmm... I was thinking I didn't need the globe, but you're making me think again... No, because I know there are going to be new CHA goodies I "need"! Still no go on getting email updates, so now I've signed up with my second email address and hope to keep up better in 2016.
