Distress meets the MINC

Hello Friends,

Just a quick post to share a few pictures from a post on Instagram.  Ever since Tim and Heidi did an Instagram Live about the MINC toner ink, I knew I had to try it!  Tim had so many great hacks using the Toner ink without the ink pad that I thought, that is for me (no measuring)!  I will not explain the technique here, but you can watch the replay by going to Heidi Swapp's Instagram feed and just looking for the split screen picture of her and Tim (May 14th if you go by the date).

In preparation for using the MINC, I invited my nieces to come over and make tags and bookmarks using the "Distress Ink Sprays" Facebook Live that Tim did.  Here is the LINK to that replay.  We watched one technique at a time while we each made at least one or two tags and then moved to the next one, starting and stoping the video as needed.  We concentrated on using inks and stencils to create the foundation for as many tags as we could make.
During the second meet-up, we used the MINC machine + Toner + several sets of Stampers Anonymous stamps to MINC the tags and bookmarks we made.  The process is very easy but you need to watch the Instagram video between Heidi and Tim to understand the process, the tips and the cleanup.
The important tools tim does mention are:
Tonic Silicone Mat
small brayer
eye dropper

I wish you could see how these shine once they are tilted in the light...they are really spectacular!

The foil looks great over a light ink background as well as a bold one!

I would mention that the process here is so easy that really any age can participate.  Both days, ink and Minc, were really fun and creative and a perfect time to be creative together.
Now carry on,
paula

  1. Looks like fun, but after downsizing my craft "essentials" when we moved, I'm not anxious to buy more stuff, so I will just enjoy looking at your art!

  3. What a fun time!!! I need to check again if the toner ink is in stock anywhere. It was not available after the live and I wanted it so bad. That want has returned with your post.

  5. I don't have a minc machine- do you think I could do the technique with a go press and foil machine? It could add heat...just not sure would be enough..
