Thanks to all who commented about Quilt Market.  It sure was a feast for the eyes!  It sounds like everyone is super excited to see the new fabric in person.  I can tell you this, you will not be disappointed!

Congratulations to the winners!

Wow, you must have had a blast at the show - so many goodies, however did you resist temptation?? Can't wait for Tim's new fabrics to hit the UK stores - love them (especially your lovely cushions). Thanks for the chance of winning. Jean.x

It's been wonderful to really get a feel for the show through your great photos - almost like being there (but without the tired feet)! So inspiring, and I can hardly wait to get my hands on the new releases - my mind is churning with ideas. And a special thanks for the chance to win some of the fabrics!!

"Thank you Paula ! I am completely awestruck by the beauty of the projects at the quilt Market. The hours of work that must have gone into making them and the quality of the craftsmanship is just incredible.  The booth that you guys created in such a short amount of time looks wonderful. I'd just like to plonk myself in that chair and enjoy the expressions on peoples faces as they first set eyes on all the wonderful pieces the 'dream team' created ! X"

Please send your shipping address to paula@oneluckyday.net so I can get your fabric right out to you!

I will be back tomorrow with a fun technique to share!
until then,
carry on...

Eclectic Elements Fabric

I have been home from Quilt Market for a couple days now.  Just enough time to have dinner with the family, unpack and do the wash (and maybe a little behind the scene work that needed to be done right away).  Needless to say, I am sure many of you have already read Tim's post about our booth Quilt Market.  So since I had the opportunity to walk the floor while Tim' was working in the booth, I thought I would share a few of the things I saw.
Before we get to any floor walking I thought you might like to see what the booth looks like during set up.  When we get to the booth it is just blank walls and boxes (just like CHA) so we just have to start unpacking, organizing and then propping all the samples.
Many of you saw that Mario was shipping this buggy to market.  I'm so glad it made it in one piece!
And here it is in the booth with all the brochures and fabric samples.
We did more unpacking and putting together.  Tim used Velcro to add the framed fabric samples to the booth wall.
Mario did a little social media during some down time.
And by the end of the afternoon we had a booth!
The new upholstered chair was a winner with the new cigar box fabric on it.  Amazing how a piece of fabric can transform an old wood chair!  If you have not read Tim's report on the show, I hope you will stop by Tim's blog to at least see many of the samples that were made by Richele Christensen, Tammy Tutterow, Patricia Petty, Connie Fong, Michele Crump, Amy Friend, Carol Caraccia, Nancy Roelfsema, and myself.
I wanted to share this picture of Nancy Roelfsema, our rep from Notions Marketing, that works in the booth with Tim.  She created a Tumbling Blocks quilt using Tim's new fabric.  I can't even imagine how many hours this took, but the final result was just amazing.  The black Worn Croc fabric really set off the other fabrics to make one stunning quilt.  Thank you Nancy for all your hard work before and during the show!
We also had Laura Martell stop by the booth to show us her new Tim Holtz tote bag made from Tim's original fabric release.
Gathered pockets on each end.

and a hanging center pocket that fits a file folder.
If you are interested in the pattern for her Professional Tote you can click on the link or email Laura directly at laura@thecreativethimble.com for more information.

Right next door to our booth was Joel Dewberry and his fabric line, Birch Farm.  Great booth and an even nicer guy.  Both Tim and Mario know Joel's mother, well known painter, Donna Dewberry from Tim's Carol Duval days.  Joel was welcoming to us and just plain nice.  What's even better is that his fabrics were a favorite of mine so I could just take a peek around the corner every once in a while!
Love this print.
It comes in multiple colorways (see the dress in the photo above) which were all nice.  This piece was made into a bench cushion and to be quite honest I wish it was in my house.  Guess I just need to wait till the fabric hits the stores!

I told Joel that if the large bag in the picture (on the floor) went missing during the show, he would know where to find it...my house.
The Anna Griffin booth is always beautiful.

One of my favorite artists, Cori Dantini  is doing a line with them.  What a fun pillow!

I thought this backdrop was super clever.  Black sharpie marker on heavy white fabric.

There were many traditional fabrics and quilts.  This was a very pretty Log Cabin design by Marcus fabrics.

Another traditional quilt based on a Fan quilt block pattern.
Lots of wool pieces and patterns to make wool projects.  I love all the colors of the wool so I just have to stay out of those booths because I want to buy all the little stacks!

This heart quilt was darling.  I'm not much of a blue person but I liked the idea of all the little hearts.
This display quilt had a 3d dress sewn onto the dress form.
This booth only sold patterns, but all the quilts (made from the patterns) really drew you in.

Alexander Henry Fabrics and the Ghastlie Collection
I think this is the third line of the "Ghastlie's, including a Christmas line that is darling.  I'm not sure what I would do with this fabric, but it truly was one of the most imaginative at the show.  I stood there looking at all the characters for a long while trying to pick a favorite...the fish bowl, the umbrella ,the lady in the chair?
Clever, clever illustrations....love it.
I love how each character had a portrait painting on the back wall of the booth.
I would like this one for my family room.  He just makes me smile.
A new exhibitor to market was - Cotton + Steel.  Very modern cottons, great displays (in fact they won a best booth award).

I loved the big cut out paper word just taped to the wall.
(Voile: a soft, thin cotton fabric)
This butterfly quilt was fun.
I loved the "sleeping bag" that just ties together.

I thought this wool wall hanging from Alison Glass was super cool.  The photo does not do it justice.  Beautiful brights over gray...really nice.

All these flags were stitched together with string to create a floating wall of sorts.  That was a lot of work!
Yo-yo's...they were everywhere...

Even though Tim's new fabric will be in stores in June, I thought you might like to win a couple just to get you started!  I'm giving away a few sets, so just leave me a comment and I will pick 3 winners on Thursday morning.
Good luck everyone!
now carry on,

A Match Made in Heaven

Thanks everyone for such nice comments on my card with the trophy and flowers.  Honestly one of my favorite things I have made lately...oh, but I did really like the Big Top mixed media piece.  No worries, there is always room for more favorites!

Today I thought I would try another color of Distress Glitter to create a really easy card.

I cut two pieces of chipboard using the Frameworks Courtyard die.  I needed two pieces because I want the pattern to run all the way across the card (one full and one with just two sections).  I rubbed Stormy Sky Distress Ink over the top...super easy, just turn the pad over onto the shape, and rub.  I dried it with the Heat it tool before moving on.
This is my favorite part...when you get to add the Distress Glitter.  Teeny tiny circles make up the glitter, so it's important to let them dry in the glue.  Resist the urge press the glitter into the glue or it will loose the cool effect.  Once set, just tap off excess and slide the leftover glitter back into the jar.  I think Frameworks and Distress Glitter are a match made in heaven.  They just go together!
I made a simple card using light colored cardstock and paper from the Mini Stash - collage (8 x 8").  This is a scaled down version of paper from the French Industrial Paper Stash.
I added a few pieces of Ephemera from the Ephemera Pack - Thrift Shop (my favorite rose).
Then I added the Frameworks pieces - The 1/8" Wonder Tape fits right across the back of the pattern.

Next, some Crinkle Ribbon I previously tea dyed.
Then I stitched on another piece from the Ephemera pack.
And finally a vintage velvet flower (one of those, "why didn't I buy more of those?" moments), Wire Pin and Heart Charm with a sweet sentiment.
Again, super simple to make, yet it looks impressive with the Courtyard die running across the front.

Well, by the time you read this post I will have made my way across the country to Quilt Market.  Looking forward to setting the booth and seeing all the projects that have been made (in person).  Also, a weekend with Tim and Mario is never a bad thing...I know, lucky girl, lucky girl.

now carry on,
paula
