Wreath Card and a Winner!

Thanks everyone for participating in the "What's your favorite Christmas song" giveaway.   I have a few Christmas songs that are favorites.  Silver Bells never fails to remind me of my mother since it was her favorite.  But if she was still alive, I am sure she would enjoy any Christmas song sung by Michael Bublé because I sure do.  But my go to Christmas favorite, which I know I have mentioned here before is, "Breath of Heaven" (Mary's song) by Amy Grant.  Just such a wonderful message.

The winner of today's prized package is:
Heidig
Love your tag and its sooooo easy! My favorite Christmas song is White Christmas.  Happy Holidays!

I have one more prize package to giveaway - you will find today's question at the end of this post.  The winner will be drawn on Sunday Morning so check back to see if it's you!

Today tutorial is a super easy card using the Christmas Blueprint 2 stamp set.
Start by stamping the image of choice onto Ranger watercolor paper with waterproof Black Archival ink.  Color the leaves with two colors of marker Shabby Shutters and Forest Moss, then blend with a detail water brush.
Color the bow with Festive Berries and Walnut Stain, then blend with the water brush.
Use Pumice Stone/water brush for the drop shadow and arrow details.
Ink the edges of the water color paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink for a subtle aged color.  Use a Tonic Edge Distresser tool to rough up the edges.  The Ranger water color paper is very thick so it makes for a great torn or distress edge.
Add as many layers as you wish to make the card front.  I stitched the water color paper to the red Merriment paper, then glued it to the green cardstock.  That way the stitching is hidden between the layers of paper.
Make a small slice with a X-acto knife in the fold of the green cardstock, so the green ribbon can wrap around the card front.  I used a combination of Forest Moss and Peeled Paint Distress Stain to color the Crinkle Ribbon.
Add a little bit of bling to the wreath to give it some extra shine.
And there you go.
Super easy card that you still have time to make!

Little door tutorial

I had more comments last week about this little door on the burlap panel than anything else.  I also had questions on exactly how I did it.  So I have recreated the process for those of you who needed a bit more information.  Follow along...
The Merriment paper stash has 2 x 2" squares at the back of the pad.
I cut 4 shapes of paper.  One for the front and the other three for the inside.  Just remember you need one long piece for the hinge.
I cut a 2 x 2" piece of chipboard for the door front.  Then glued the calendar paper to it and sanded the edges with the Sanding Grip.
Turn the chipboard over, add the longer piece to the back.  The part with the red numbers will eventually be covered by another paper.
Make a hole through the chipboard for the Ring Fastener.
Slip the Ring Fastener into the hole, adjust ring, then open "legs" to secure.  In the final piece the legs were covered with a tiny red Vial Label (see last photo).
Next, adhere the back paper to the chipboard foundation.
Open door, add the Santa paper over the top of red numbers.  This step was done just so I could use the picture of Santa in the parade.  If the polka dot paper had been connected to the Santa picture, instead of the red numbers, I could have skipped this step.
Hope this helps explain the secret of the door!  Super, super easy!

Merry Christmas card

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about the Burlap Panel.  That was really a fun project to create and a great way to use up leftover embellishments!
Up today, a Christmas card -
I used a Collage Glue stick to cover a piece of Grungeboard with Merriment paper, then ran it through the Vagabond machine using the Vintage Cabinet Card die.  I needed the shape to be a bit smaller to fit on the card front so I cut off about 1/4" off each side.  If I had planned better, I would have just made the card wider but that part was already done so I just went with it.
I used the Sizzix sized ovals to cut the Mirrored product for the center.  If you missed the technique I used to age the Mirrored product, you can check it out here.  Once the oval was complete, I peeled off the backing and adhered it to the foundation.
Next step, coloring the new Industrious Borders with Alcohol Ink - gold.
The borders are not flexible, so once colored, I clipped (only part of the way) between each point to make is flexible enough to go around the Sized Oval.  Once that was complete, I added the Remnant Rub - Merry Christmas to the center.
I should mention the bow and Baubles before I finish up.  The bow is made from the new Linen trimmings.  It comes narrow in the package but can be stretched to create a bigger bow.  See the difference in the band wrapped around the cabinet card and the bow itself?  Two different sizes.  It can also be stained whatever color you wish.
The holly is from the Sizzix decorative strip - Festive Greenery.  I cut the leaves and scored the veins with the end of my Tonic scissors.  The "berries" are a couple of sizes of pearl Baubles that have been colored with 3 different colors of Alcohol ink - butterscotch, red pepper, and mushroom.  Once dry, I threaded the three Baubles onto a string to hold them tight, then glued them to the card with a bit of Glossy Accents.
On the inside, I used more Merriment paper stash (kids in the snow), pieces from the festive greenery die, a vial label and more Remnant Rubs.
that's it for today...don't forget to comment to win for Saturdays prizes!
now carry on,
