Remnants of the Past

Hope you weekend was a good one.  We had beautiful weather on the coast that created a great backdrop for the Remnants of the Past show this weekend in San Luis Obispo.  I snapped a few pictures as I was walking around (okay, sometimes running), please enjoy.

Rust and Roses always has a great sign.

This photo is for my good friend Lorraine in Sydney.  Wish it wasn't $475 because it would have been perfect in her house.

loved the displays in this camping booth

Back home to unload.
I just want to mention that there were 3 of us shopping so all those bags are not mine.  I did get the Encyclopedia Americana wood box (which I am in love with) for $32 which was a great price.  Someone else wanted it but I swear I saw it first!  I won't name any names.
I also got this great photo to go with my "groups of people" collection.  This one is the Ohio State Hotel Association (Dayton, Ohio Dec 7-8 1915).  My one rule for this collection is that you have to be able to see the people clearly.  This photograph fits the bill, many of the women are wearing extravagant furs and the men are very dapper with their hats and overcoats.
But this was my favorite find of the day (already on my kitchen wall).  This fabulous "good eats" sign.  I have been looking for the perfect painted sign for this wall for probably 5 years.   It was as if the stars aligned for me to have it...the right size, color, and price.  SOLD.
The board is old and very chippy with grey and yellow which is prefect to match my kitchen. Thank you to vendor "Auntie Joy" for always having such fun stuff at reasonable prices.  I buy something at this booth every single time.
cheers for a great week

Remants of the Past Show

I spent the evening with friends at our local antiques show, Remnants of the Past.  This year Judy decided to have a 3 hour preview night before the show starts tomorrow morning which was wonderful since there was only a 1/4 of the people that will be at the show during the weekend.
We had a fabulous time shopping the show, talking to friends, and really just soaking in the beauty.
I am not going to comment too much here.  Just wanted to share the vision of the evening.  Of course I am going back in the morning for one more go round since it's not too often I get to drive 30 minutes up the road to a great show.
enjoy.
Edgar and Edgar (perfect Halloween booth)

You have to be close to the front of the line to get a good pumpkin.  They go fast!

Junk Girls

I will say the highlight of the night was meeting Wendy Addison (seriously awesome).  She and her daughter Monica were running the Tinsel Trading booth.  Many of Wendy's beautiful glass glitter designs were available along with vintage trimmings and notions from Tinsel Trading in NYC.  I bought some vintage metal sewing thread as well as glass glitter oak leaves for Christmas presents and a few surprises for friends.
Do you not love this hand painted background on plain kraft wrapping paper?  This design was repeated on all the walls of the booth and it was just fabulous.  This new booth is a great addition to the show and I am hoping she will return.

cuff bracelets from Le Muse

I think the pièce de résistance (like a wedding dress at the end of the fashion show) was this vintage 6 foot Christmas tree.  It was the right color creme to make it beautiful and very reasonable priced at $220.  I have never seen one like this before.
No, I didn't buy it but I wanted to.
But there is always tomorrow.
cheers for a great Saturday in your neck of the woods!
