A Steampunk Village!
I thought I would share some closeup photos of the little houses you might not see in the SSS tutorial. I had so much fun making these little houses that I'm thinking about making more to go with the first three. You need 4-5 sheets of Grungeboard to make one set of three and the package comes with 10 sheets so I have enough to make the second set from the same pack.
I hope you pop over to see the how-to's and then come back here for a little give away. Just leave me a comment...what kind of village would you make? I will choose a winner on Monday morning, June 24th.

ReplyDeletelove the little houses must have a go thanks for share :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mario! These are freakin awesome!!! I can't stop going back over each house in your little village and looking at all the cool details! If I could make a village, I'd make a fun little vintage/funky horse village to put on a shelf in my niece's room. She is taking horse-training lessons and is horse crazy! To make a village where everything revolves around horses instead of people (but in a funky kinda strange way), would be soooo much fun for her. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteoooo :)
ReplyDeleteI am a "steampunk Freak" I just love this but I would make a whole village.lol..I think I will thanks for the inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteAm lovin' every cog and bit! Amazing

ReplyDeleteOh my! I love this and would make one just like it, in fact I plan to give it a try!!
ReplyDeleteI did 5 "winter" houses at Christmas time. They were up on an old silver tray with old lace until April. Love the idea of using Grungeboard.
ReplyDeleteThink "summer" cottages will be next....after purchasing some Grungeboard.
Love the construction ideas. Thanks.
I would love to have a Vintage Christmas set. I'm not sure where I would put it in my house but it would be lovely. Thanks for a chance to win. I still can't wait to get ahold of that fabric!

I get so many wonderful ideas from you. I have the calendar with the dragonfly you shared on my desk and look at it every day. I loved it so much I made 2 more for friends that loved it as well.
ReplyDeleteI think a steampunk christmas village would be cool. Add some trees, glitter for snow...... maybe weave in some things for a doctor who christmas..... Doctor Who steampunk christmas. that would be so cool
ReplyDeleteAwesome, cute little houses. Love them!
ReplyDeleteOOh I love them. I will make a Fabulous French village with the tutorial - that way I can leave it out all year round. They are so darling - I might not be able to stop and it might become a city!! xx Michelle
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of village would I build? Maybe a Christmas village or a Halloween village? Or since I'm watching the last of this season's Dr. Who, maybe a village for all the Doctors?
ReplyDeleteme me pick me.
ReplyDeleteI just got back from the Simon Says Stamp blog and must say I love your houses. The little metal patch is wonderful. I remember when you did your little winter village, and have to admit, that is the kind of village I would want to make. Being from Georgia I'm always dreaming of a White Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLove them...I am inspired o make the Christmas village and have bought those cute lanterns to go in the windows
ReplyDeleteLove your village! Since everyone else would make a Xmas village (altho the steampunk xmas village sounds wow) I think I would go with a whimsey village....lots of color, doodling and fun. thanks for the chance to win the prize.
ReplyDeleteI've made houses using similar techniques for Christmas ornaments and can't say exactly why it's so much fun but I highly recommend it.
ReplyDelete*GASP!* This is amazing, Paula!!!

ReplyDeleteOh I love it ! I love birdhouses and Dept 56 houses and these are just perfect using the papers~
ReplyDeleteLove them!!!!
I love Christmas villages, but am sad to put them away at the end of the holidays, so making something like you did, or maybe something shabby chic, or French country, would be great to have out all year long. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour ideas are always inspirational! I think my village would be full of beachy cottages :).
ReplyDeletequ'elles sont belles ces petites maisons, je les adore!
ReplyDeleteLovely houses!! I would like to make birthday-houses! One house for each year, with a fussy cut photo of the person who is celebrated. I have a daughter that just went 14 years old, so I better start now or there will be overvelming to make the start of her first years. Wouldn't it be a great tradition though? Then you could spred the houses around the house, when celebrating the birthdays, and really se how time has gone by, and really remember the years that gone by! :) Thank you for ALL your inspiring blogs! Hugs, Marie
ReplyDeleteYou're the "Gentle Woman Crafter" of blogville and beyond! How fun to see something so industrial yet cute. We need some punky women's pictures for the houses. Great work!
ReplyDeleteLeft you "love" on the SS blog! These up-close photos are terrific. Thx for showing how to craft those a-m-a-z-i-n-g roofs! Love all the details of this village. :)
ReplyDeleteI would make a Christmas village to sit near my junk drawer Advent Calendar!

ReplyDeleteLove your village, Paula! I think, since I live so close to the beaches of the beautiful west coast of Florida, that I would make a village of little beach shanties.
ReplyDeleteI was blown away when I saw these on SS's blog---these are awesome!! I would love to try to make like this, and one for every holiday--that would be so fun....I think! :P

ReplyDeleteFabulous...I have been wanting to do some houses and seeing yours has given me the inspiration! Thank you and I love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! I loved the Christmas village you did as well - I think I need to make a few sets of these myself. Thanks for the great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI just love your mini village! I think mine would have to be a shabby chic setting...
ReplyDeleteI have everything I need except for the artful dwellings die and the foil papers. Time to go shopping!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going for a slightly more colorful look, so will try some papers from one of Tim's old paper stacks, the ones with the oranges and greens. I will make a little Newark, DE village! Thanks so much for the inspiration!
I love love love this little village just the way it is!! I love the steampunk look as well as a more shabby chic look - can't decide which! I would love to try and make these - thanks for the detailed directions on Simon Says Blog. Thank you so much for the wonderful inspiration - you are so talented!!!
ReplyDeleteYour village is so stunning!! I love all the details in it an and can't seem to quit looking at it! I think I would have to make a Vintage Old Fashion Village but boy oh boy I sure am liking Steampunk more and more as the days go by.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your wonderful inspirations!!!
Another fabulous creation! I would love to stick with your style, and do some fun holiday themes as well! Thanks for all your devotion to creativity!

ReplyDeleteYou always inspire me!
ReplyDeleteI recently found a leather suitcase with old family pictures (1890's to 1930's) a lot
were not labeled...no one around to ask. I would make a village of the unknowns
because looking in their eyes I know we are related. I liked the roofs of your
houses...I'd like to do similar ones. Thank you so much...
Gread job! Love the paper and esp. the roofs.
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween so I'd make haunted houses!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of a seaside village of cottages. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteLove these little cuties!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to make a row of English terrace houses or maybe a spooky Halloween Village. The possibilities are endless!
Last year I made your Christmas houses and hand cut all the chipboard pieces so it's time to invest in the dies I think!
Oh I can see a Christmas village in there somewhere!

These little houses are great. I can see a set for every holiday or every season. Then I thought of a set representing my family's homes.
ReplyDeleteAs always you rock the creative world. I would probably make a Halloween village. (I put out your Christmas village every year!) Thank you for always being inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome project. Totally digging the buildings.
ReplyDeleteLove your houses! I really need to make some of these little guys! Thanks for the great instructions!
ReplyDeleteHope I win the Idea-ology goodies!!
Thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to make an Easter/Spring Village! I noticed this past Easter that most of my holiday decor was very Kid-friendly. Since my youngest is 21, and just graduated from college, I think it is time to update, no? LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again.!!! such amazingness!!! (new word!)so talented - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese are such a great idea. Never ceases to amaze me what a creative mind and some grungeboard can do!!! I think it would be a wonderful holiday project for all the holidays. I see a little patriotic 4th of July village, and a leprechaun village for St. Patty's day, Valentine's village, Halloween, etc... Maybe instead of gingerbread/candy houses (that end up getting thrown away) me and the kiddos will make these. It would be a great way to preserve their artwork as they grow up. I could also include their Santa photos on one of these little houses, another great memory keeper... Wonderful idea and great tutorial!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so super cute! I love all of the additional inspirational ideas being posted by others too
