I have always wanted to do this, but just never took the time...until now. Maybe it was because my husband built me another wall shelf so I could see things rather than digging in drawers. This one is deeper than the last so I had the opportunity to house things that take up more depth like the Distress ink.
I used Avery label #5267 that I bought
here and made a list of the names.
Once printed (
I did use a laser printer, not ink jet), I labeled each ink pad, then colored with the label once it was on the plastic case. The inked looked very dark when I did it but the next day they were nice and dry and very readable. Looks like I am still missing a few of the seasonal colors...that gives a girl something to hope for, right?
let's see, I need gathered twigs, seedless, preserves, ripe persimmon, mowed lawn....9 colors missing in all. That is a bit too many to remember, so I used the
app on my phone to check off the colors I still need. Super Easy.
And look how good they look on the shelf!
I printed 5 extra copies of labels...if you have a lot of Distress Inks and you would like a set please email me (paula@2gypsygirls.com) and I will send one out to you (first come, first serve).
The pre-printed label sheets are all spoken for...if you would like my Word Document to print your own I would be happy to send that you but remember, you will need to print with a laser printer so the name will not smear when you add the Distress Ink to the label.
cheers for a great day,
paula
They do look cool on your pretty shelf!! (so do your delusions!)
ReplyDeleteMe I want one…
ReplyDeleteMe too!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh I am so jealous that you have such fabulous storage! Kudos to your hubby!
ReplyDeleteThey look awesome what a fantastic idea
ReplyDeleteAren't you smart! Looks wonderful. I wish I had more inks...
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a set - and have your hubby build me a shelf? I'm missing a few seasonal ones too. The pain of living in a small town.
ReplyDeleteI would love a set of labels ! thx!
ReplyDeletemary t
That is a work of art in itself, beautiful. I have something to aspire to.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh if you would send me the word document I can finally print and label mine thank you ! Yours look fabulous and the shelf is great!!!
ReplyDeleteWould so appreciate the Word Doc you used for your labels. TIA for sending! Shelves look great!!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea! Maybe Ranger will pick up on it and we will not need to label our own **hint, hint, Ranger***
ReplyDeleteLove the shelf. Can I get one, too? ;-)
Your shelf looks wonderful. I printed the labels from Ranger Ink site, I used my inkjet printer and sprayed with fixative before inking. No smearing. The Ranger site has labels & charts for most of their products.
ReplyDeleteVic, I know about the form on the Ranger site but I had a problem with the names lining up on the Avery labels...so that is how I ended up making my own. Maybe I was just doing something wrong since you got it to work.
DeleteI like the spraying with fixative idea!
thanks so much,
paula
I would love to have the document sent to me please :) This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are One Lucky Lady to have so many Distressed inks! Are the bottles of spray inks Tims' or Dyans'? I can't tell! Nice shelf also, I will show to my hubby tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteJackie, the bottle you see are Dyans (Tim's are just lower on the shelf)
ReplyDeletepaula

well I WAS trying hard not to buy ALL the stamp pads....but now I am rethinking that!! They look so good all lined up on your shelf!! Then there's all those delicious sprays too....
ReplyDeleteit's just something about having them all lined up on the shelf. Just buy one every time michaels has a 40% off coupon.
DeleteI'd love a copy of the file.

Your shelf look fabulous! I did my inks that way a few months ago..I love the way it looks!
ReplyDeleteI would love a copy as well.
ReplyDeletesheepmoo11@gmail.com
Thanks so much!
Hope xo
I was hoping you would just send me the actual distress inks with the labels already on them! Lol! Great idea, Paula. Would you please send me your word doc? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your word document with me. Typing it is very time consuming, so it really helps.
ReplyDeleteYour shelf looks amazing!! Your husband did a great job and the inks look so amazing lined up like you have them. Straight up JOY!!
ReplyDeletePaula, the labels are brilliant...in more ways than one! I have tried to cut up larger labels to fit and hand print the names of the distress inks, but I'm never satisfied with any of the results and give up on the project. I'd really appreciate the Word doc and can't wait to print them up, use fixative (thanks to Vic for the tip on that), and color them up.

Thanks!
Paula, what a great idea! I would love to have the word doc to print out. Thanks for sharing!

I would love a copy of the document please!! And I had forgotten about the app - great way to keep up with some of the stuff that I have (love Tim Holtz products)
ReplyDeleteshoney58@gmail.com
I did the same labeling to my dye inks awhile ago...really helps the organization, right?! However, I store my inks upside down. Tim Holtz suggested this as it keeps the ink pads damp and the ink stays close to the surface of the pads. Enjoy the end of Sept :)

ReplyDeleteI love your labels - I, too, had made labels a long time ago but now there are new colors and I haven't done it again. I would love to have you send me the word document and I can just relabel all of my inks. Thanks so much! maureen.chandler@myfairpoint.net
ReplyDeleteI used the Ranger web site and printed out the inventory list from there Then I attached them pretty much the same way. I used my Xyron sticker maker to make my cardstock sticky. It has served me well for a while now. I even put stickers on my distress ink storage tin so they would get put back in the right slot. I know way to organized. But it works!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cool idea!! I'd love to receive your word document ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
